Mastering Horse Racing with Pro-Handicap Wizard 4.0 is an e-book that teaches the fundamentals of handicapping using the Pro-Handicap Wizard method. It explains the mathematics of horse racing and their practical application in the valuation of horses. This includes computing win probabilities from a simulation of speed figures (e.g., sp, e1, e2 and lp) and historical win percentage adjusted for the stakes amount of races. The combined calculation is Total Win Probability (TOP), which can be compared to the implied win probability of the live odds to derive expected Return on Investment (ROI)—the main basis for selection decisions. When ROI is positive, the horse is undervalued compared to its odds and when negative, the horse is overvalued. The element of risk is also discussed, defined as Coefficient of Variance (CV) or the variability of a horse’s historical performance according to final speed figures. The CV value is important for determining the consistency of a horse relative to his final speed projection. A number of examples of races are shown throughout the book that utilize the main strategy, illustrating step-for-step how profitable selections are made. Advanced strategies such as comparing individual metrics like Win Percentage and LP win probability to the implied win probabilities of the live odds are also discussed. Written for the intermediate to advanced level player and a PHW user, the book serves as a handicapping manual for any kind of race situation from the most prestigious graded races down to the lowest stakes ones. 57 pgs. with 53 exhibits.
